We reduced our training time significantly for our 80 perioperative nurses using PeriopSim. Without PeriopSim, onboarding would have taken measurably longer and my learners would have had less experience with both procedures and instruments.

I have definitely seen how much it does help. We had one nurse that used it over at our East facility. She was able to first scrub a Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy by herself the first week they had her there because she did that Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy module multiple times. I definitely think our management team is seeing the benefit.

We all keep hearing about the nursing shortage, so we're obviously having to train nurses fresh out of nursing school to go through AORN's Periop101 and learn how to be an OR Nurse. It's also a competitive market because now you have so many job openings so the applicant can choose where they want to go. I found that as soon as I start talking about PeriopSim in interviews to applicants, we've got them. They're going to choose our hospital over another hospital because they are excited about the simulation aspect.
